Shadow Warrior 3 is coming!

A trailer for Shadow Warrior 3 dropped this week and it looks awesome. Developed by Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital, it features the trademark adult humour and violence the franchise is known for. Wall running and a Doom Eternal style hookshot are shown in the trailer; both of which would be cool to use if done well.

Slated to arrive next year, no platforms were mentioned but I'd expect this to land on the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. More details will be revealed on Saturday's Devolver Direct.

I've been playing the Shadow Warrior games since the original came out in 1997 and have always been a fan of its take-no-prisoners approach. The games are fun, silly and revel in their crudeness, which can be quite refreshing amidst the semi-seriousness of some other FPS games (especially military shooters).

The rebooted Shadow Warrior and its sequel were especially fun to play FPS games, with stunning graphics (especially the second) and a great arsenal of weapons which Lo Wang could use to turn his enemies into bits.

What will be interesting to see is if the new game turns anything down a notch. In this age of cancel culture, it will be fascinated to see how a franchise like Shadow Warrior manages to handle its trademark humour in such challenging times.
